Preview: Ferndale Eagles vs. Pontiac Phoenix
Ferndale and the Phoenix are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Ferndale Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Pontiac Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ferndale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
After a string of five wins, Ferndale's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 50-38 to Novi.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Janiya Larry, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Demi Bolton, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Pontiac also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to the Knights by a score of 46-37. Pontiac has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ferndale's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Pontiac, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Ferndale against the Phoenix when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 63-13 win. Will Ferndale repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
