Baseball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Springville Red Devils

Dixie has gone a perfect 7-0 against Springville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Dixie Flyers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Springville Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Dixie got the win against Bear River by a conclusive 12-2. That's two games straight that the Flyers have won by exactly ten runs.

Carson Hunt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hunt was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Turley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Weston Gilmore, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear River only posted a batting average of .053.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Springville sidestepped Box Elder for a 4-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bees: they've now won five in a row.

Eli Liddiard was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Springville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dixie, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Dixie came out on top in a nail-biter against Springville when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Dixie repeat their success, or does Springville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
