Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Christelle Pacheco and Monique Chavez Lead Valencia to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Teresa, Valencia was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Valley Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Jaguars have posted against the Vikings since September 22, 2016.

Valencia walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 25-13.

Leading Valencia to victory were Monique Chavez and Christelle Pacheco. Chavez had 13 digs and five aces, while Pacheco had 11 digs and one assist. Those five aces gave Chavez a new career-high. Nevaeh Sers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Valencia was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only served three.

Penelope Jimenez and Divyna Ibarra-Villegas certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Jimenez had eight digs, while Ibarra-Villegas had nine digs.

Valencia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Valencia has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Hope Christian on the 30th. As for Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Sandia on the 30th.
