Basketball Recap: Edna Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Edna entered their contest against Columbus on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Edna Cowboys took a 68-53 bruising from the Columbus Cardinals. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Grayson Rigdon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds for Columbus. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rigdon has scored at least a third of Columbus' points. Another player making a difference was Brody Tribe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Edna's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4. As for Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Edna has already played their next game (against Hallettsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Columbus will face off against Industrial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Industrial likes a good challenge.
