Senior post led Manchester to Class 6 state championship.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Mia Woolfolk of Manchester (Midlothian) is the 2023-24 Virginia MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 senior post led the Lancers to a 27-2 record and Class 6 state championship.

For the season, Woolfolk averaged 20.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.0 assists per game. She shot 73 percent from the field with a high of 34 points in a win over Highland Springs in December.

Woolfolk has helped Manchester go 63-13 over the past three seasons with two state championship game appearances.

Regarded as a top 100 prospect in the Class of 2024, Woolfolk signed with Georgia in November.

Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
