Basketball Recap: Mintz Christian Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Liberty Christian Academy

Mintz Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. The game between the Lions and the Liberty Christian Academy Knights didn't end well, with the Lions falling 46-28. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Liberty Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Jones out in front who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of the Knights' points. Another player making a difference was Nico Garcia, who went 6-for-14 en route to 13 points.

Liberty Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Mintz Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Triad Baptist Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-19 defeat against Christ the Cornerstone Academy on the 9th.
