Baseball Recap: San Ramon Valley Victorious

San Ramon Valley won against California on Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Wolves' pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.

Bryce Monte tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Ramon Valley is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on TJ Adlman, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Colton Fitzgibbon also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

San Ramon Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

San Ramon Valley now has a winning record of 11-10. As for California, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

Meanwhile, California is set to take on their familiar foe De La Salle at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 4, the Spartans 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
