Softball Game Preview: Bellingham Blackhawks vs. Medfield Warriors

The Bellingham Blackhawks will head out to square off against the Medfield Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, Bellingham didn't have quite enough to beat Ursuline Academy and fell 2-1. The match marked the Blackhawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Trista Corshia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Bellingham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleigh Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Medfield came up short against Attleboro on Thursday, falling 14-1. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly 13 runs.

Medfield dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Bellingham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Medfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Bellingham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game.
