Baseball Recap: Elba Gets the Win

Elba hadn't done well against Oakfield-Alabama recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lancers walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Hornets. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Hornets two weeks ago, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Alex Rascoe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Caparco, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Elba and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Oakfield-Alabama, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Elba will square off against Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oakfield-Alabama, they will challenge Perry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
