Volleyball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Worthington Kilbourne Wolves

Fairmont hasn't had much luck against Worthington Kilbourne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Firebirds will take on the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fairmont sitting on three straight victories and Worthington Kilbourne on 13.

Fairmont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Dublin Coffman 3-2.

Fairmont was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-27, 25-20, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Worthington Kilbourne had just enough and edged out Hilliard Bradley 3-2 on Wednesday.

Worthington Kilbourne was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-12.

Worthington Kilbourne found their leader in sophomore Asher Post, who had 14 digs and two aces.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Fairmont might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Worthington Kilbourne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Firebirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
