Basketball Recap: Martinsville Gets the Win

After losing to Broaddus the last time they met, Martinsville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Martinsville Pirates narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Broaddus Bulldogs 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since December 10, 2024.

Colton Modisette and Kingston Sanders certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Modisette went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points, while Sanders went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points and eight boards.

Martinsville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-15 record this season. As for Broaddus, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 21-10 record this season.

Martinsville has already played their next contest, an 88-42 loss against Wells on the 4th. As for Broaddus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-33 victory against Zavalla on the 4th.
