Basketball Recap: Meadville Comes Up Short

Meadville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Shelby Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since December 28, 2023.

Despite the loss, Meadville still got an impressive performance from Donivan Schreckhise, who went 8 for 9 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Meyers, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Meadville now has a losing record at 5-6. As for South Shelby, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Meadville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Marceline at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Shelby, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Van-Far at 7:30 p.m.
