Baseball Recap: Winter Park Wildcats vs. Boone Braves

Winter Park and Boone squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Winter Park had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Boone Braves by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Winter Park of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Jake Eisert put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Eisert was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

Eisert wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Montanez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

On Boone's side, Collin Lock tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, James Crews was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Luke Mottola was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Winter Park's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Boone, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Winter Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boone, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Timber Creek. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Boone: 3.8, Timber Creek: 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
