Baseball Recap: Beaver Find Success

It was close, but on Monday the Beaver Bobcats sidestepped the North Catholic Trojans for a 2-1 win.

Ty Butler made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Butler wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Derek Hughes, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Beaver has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for North Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Beaver will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
