Basketball Recap: Father Capodanno Drops Season-High Score on Asheboro Hybrid Academy

Father Capodanno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors, falling 49-29. One positive for the Grunts, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Father Capodanno lost, don't look at Aubrey Driscoll. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most points Driscoll has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Emma Klotz, who posted ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Father Capodanno smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Emily West had a dynamite game for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, going 8 of 13 on her way to 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which West has scored at least a third of Asheboro Hybrid Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacie Whitt, who put up five points and three blocks.

Father Capodanno's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Father Capodanno didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-53 victory against Haw River Christian Academy on the 8th. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 39-25 defeat against Union Grove Christian on the 9th.
