Baseball Game Preview: Evansville Central Bears vs. Jasper Wildcats

Evansville Central is 1-9 against Jasper since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.

Evansville Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Princeton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Bears' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Devon DeJarnette made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Jasper posted their closest victory since May 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Jeffersonville 8-7. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Evansville Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Jasper, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5-1.
