Football Recap: Ivan Camargo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coachella Valley over Valley View

Coachella Valley suffered their closest defeat since August 31, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Valley View Eagles by a score of 21-18. The Mighty Arabs just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Coachella Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivan Camargo, who picked up 157 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Camargo's longest reception was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Ivan Garza was another key passer, throwing for 257 yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Coachella Valley's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Sebastian Casillas was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Valley View found their leader in sophomore Damien Randin, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Coachella Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Valley View, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Looking ahead, Coachella Valley will host Desert Mirage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mighty Arabs will be up against the RAMS' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Valley View, they will head out on the road to face off against Rancho Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 854 yards in their previous games.
