Why it's big: It's way too soon to say this showdown of Xcellent 25 teams will decide the Trinity League championship, but it's clear that Friday night's winner will be in the driver's seat the rest of the season.

No. 4 St. John Bosco achieved its highest national ranking of the year after destroying state-ranked Santa Margarita last week, 62-14. The Braves (6-0) have scored at least 55 every game this season and more than 60 four times.

Meanwhile, No. 19 Mater Dei fought back from a 21-14 halftime deficit to finally put away Orange Lutheran, 49-35. Superstar freshman J.T. Daniels carried the Monarchs offensively, passing for 446 yards and accounting for five touchdowns.

Names to watch: Five-star junior offensive tackle Wyatt Davis has helped pave the way for a St. John Bosco rushing attack that averages nearly 9 yards per carry. The Braves have 1,619 total yards on the ground, including 689 from Washington-bound senior Sean McGrew.

For Mater Dei, Daniels' top three receiving targets are also underclassmen. Four-star junior Osiris St. Brown leads the Monarchs with 367 yards and six touchdowns, followed closely by sophomores Chris Parks and his brother Amon-ra St. Brown.
