Softball Recap: North Yarmouth Academy Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

North Yarmouth Academy dropped their record down to 10-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the St. Dominic Saints, falling 12-3. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Yarmouth Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Fortin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

As for St. Dominic, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.9 runs.

On St. Dominic's side, Madeline Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. Andrews has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Dominic got a big performance out of Piper Croteau, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Croteau a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Russell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Yarmouth Academy will take on Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Dominic, they will face off against Fryeburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
