Recap: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Golden Valley Grizzlies
The Vasquez Mustangs lost against the Golden Valley Grizzlies back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Vasquez took a hard 68-52 fall against Golden Valley. Vasquez has not had much luck with Golden Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Vasquez had strong showings from Kristopher Horton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds, and Noah Rowley, who scored 17 points. Horton is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Daeron Bankett, who scored 12 points.
Vasquez's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Golden Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vasquez's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Santa Clarita Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Golden Valley will take on Lancaster at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Lancaster knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Golden Valley likes a good challenge.
