Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Pinecrest's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pinecrest walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Athens Drive Jaguars a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Not much got past Bohdi Robertson, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Athens Drive off the board. Robertson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mitch Baek, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run. Eythan Reynolds was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Pinecrest is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Athens Drive, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Pinecrest will challenge Gray's Creek on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. Athens Drive does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
