Softball Recap: Penfield Victorious

After only two runs in their last contest, Penfield made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cheraw on Monday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 15-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Patriots' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Penfield let Megan Clark and Addison Young run wild. Clark scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Young got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Clark is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Stephanie Coughlin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Penfield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cheraw, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Penfield will square off against Langley at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Cheraw, they will face off against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
