Baseball Recap: Prosser's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Prosser won the last time they faced Quincy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Jackrabbits a 5-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

The result came thanks to Bryson Ashton's shutout, as he gave up just seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landon BaiLey was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Prosser kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Prosser pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Prosser will take on Zillah at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Leopards will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Quincy, they will challenge Ephrata at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
