Basketball Recap: North Judson-San Pierre Triumphs

North Judson-San Pierre hadn't done well against Kankakee Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays slipped by the Kankakee Valley Kougars 48-47. Given the Bluejays' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Kougars are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Judson-San Pierre got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyleigh Lehiy out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Lehiy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cailyn Tunis, who posted 14 points.

Kankakee Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Walker, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds, and Camry Krueger, who had 12 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Krueger a new career-high.

North Judson-San Pierre's record is now 12-3. As for Kankakee Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

North Judson-San Pierre will head out to face off against LaVille at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kankakee Valley, they will welcome Illiana Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
