Softball Preview: Ravenwood Raptors vs. Summit Spartans
Ravenwood is 1-9 against Summit since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Raptors will be playing at home against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Ravenwood will be strutting in after a win while Summit will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, Ravenwood needed a bit of extra time to put away Franklin. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Admirals 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raptors have posted since March 14th.

Campbell Raphael spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Garland Kay Daniel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Rowan Wilson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Summit fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Brentwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 6-5. That makes it the first time this season the Spartans have let down their home crowd.
Summit also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Addison Johnson gave up five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Lakyn Canada made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Saniya Hunter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Ravenwood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
