Softball Game Preview: St. Margaret's Scotties vs. St. Catherine's Saints

The St. Margaret's Scotties are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Catherine's Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Margaret's is coming into the matchup on a 16-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for St. Margaret's offense. They lost 18-0 to Miller School of Albemarle on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, St. Catherine's narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Trinity Episcopal 2-1. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Keira Frazier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

Frazier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kinnady Branch, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Another was Alice Kottkamp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

St. Margaret's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for St. Catherine's, their record is now 16-2.

St. Margaret's suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to St. Catherine's in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Scotties avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
