Softball Recap: Oakland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of five wins, Oakland's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of North Douglas by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Oakers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Maddie Dalberti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

Oakland's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for North Douglas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakland will welcome Myrtle Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Douglas, they will challenge Glendale at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
