Baseball Recap: Southfield Christian Comes Up Short

Southfield Christian had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Bloomfield Christian School Defenders, falling 8-2. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to the Defenders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Southfield Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Ehlan, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Bloomfield Christian School, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Bloomfield Christian School's side, Parker Barnes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barnes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Antone, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Adam Ryan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Looking ahead, Southfield Christian will take on Novi Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bloomfield Christian School, they will face off against FAITH HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
