Softball Preview: Wooster Generals vs. New Philadelphia Quakers
The Wooster Generals will head out on the road to square off against the New Philadelphia Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Saturday, it was close, but Wooster sidestepped Norwayne for a 6-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wooster.
The team relied heavily on Isabelle Fortune, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Dorris, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, New Philadelphia waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged the Little Muskies out 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for New Philadelphia as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Reese Loveday was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Sarah Ciereszewski was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Wooster's win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10. As for New Philadelphia, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6.
