Basketball Recap: Landon Lawson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hagerstown over Monroe Central

Hagerstown lost against Monroe Central back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hagerstown Tigers fell 64-56 to the Monroe Central Golden Bears. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Golden Bears are ranked 80th).

Hagerstown lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Landon Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards. Lawson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaagen Kendall, who went 8 of 17 en route to 20 points.

Hagerstown is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. As for Monroe Central, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Hagerstown will take on Fountain Central in a tournament on Friday. As for Monroe Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frankton at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th.
