Recap: Brownell Talbot Raiders vs. Parkview Christian Patriots
The Brownell Talbot Raiders had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They snuck past Parkview Christian with a 30-24 win. That's another feather in the cap for Brownell Talbot, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brownell Talbot found their leader in underclassman Avery Nichols, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Nichols has scored at least a third of Brownell Talbot's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbett Lanum, who scored six points along with three steals.
Parkview Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Priscila Cabrales, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Merryl Paul, who scored 11 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Parkview Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Brownell Talbot pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Brownell Talbot's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Parkview Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Brownell Talbot won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Boys Town at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Brownell Talbot is facing Boys Town at the right time seeing as Boys Town is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Parkview Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Omaha Christian Academy on Saturday. Hopefully Parkview Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
