Football Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

Notre Dame extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were beaten by the Arroyo Valley Hawks 56-20. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Notre Dame's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brady Phalen, who picked up 192 receiving yards and two scores, and Isaac Goodman, who threw for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, Phalen is now averaging an impressive 103.3 receiving yards per game.

As for Arroyo Valley, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Arroyo Valley had a senior duo take command as Joseph Stanley rushed for 200 yards and four TDs on only 12 carries and Jerome Weaver rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Those 200 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Stanley.

Notre Dame didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-18 defeat against Bloomington on the 24th. As for Arroyo Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 38-19 victory against Fontana on the 24th.
