Basketball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

Estancia lost against Moriarty back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Estancia Bears fell 50-39 to the Moriarty Pintos. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pintos 15-10 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Estancia lost, don't look at Steve Barela. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. Those ten points gave Barela a new career-high.

Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Moriarty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estancia will square off against Tularosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moriarty, they will welcome West Las Vegas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Las Vegas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Moriarty likes a good challenge.
