Softball Game Preview: Valley View Spartans vs. Wilmington Hurricane

The Valley View Spartans will take on the Wilmington Hurricane at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Valley View will be strutting in after a win while Wilmington will be coming in after a defeat.

Valley View took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Eaton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 8-7. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Emily Woodward, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brelynn Riley, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Wilmington's offense. They lost 7-0 to Goshen two weeks ago. The Hurricane haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Wilmington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Valley View, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.
