Basketball Game Preview: Ennis Lions vs. Crandall Pirates

Ennis is 0-4 against Crandall since January of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Ennis Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Crandall Pirates at 6:30 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Aniyha???????? Hereford and Sophia Davis.

Ennis is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. The game between them and Kaufman didn't end well, with Ennis falling 56-42. While losing is never fun, Ennis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 973rd, while Kaufman is ranked 103rd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Hereford, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Bodine, who earned 13 points.

Meanwhile, Crandall was able to grind out a solid victory over Corsicana on Tuesday, taking the game 48-37.

Ennis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Crandall, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Ennis suffered a grim 49-25 defeat to Crandall in their previous meeting back in February. Can Ennis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
