Baseball Recap: Skutt Catholic Has No Trouble Against Columbus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skutt Catholic). They blew past the Columbus Discoverers 10-3 on Tuesday. The SkyHawks haven't had any issues with the Discoverers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Nate Christensen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Christensen was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Christensen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Cooper Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Jace Ziola was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Skutt Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Columbus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Skutt Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Elkhorn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Columbus will challenge rival Lincoln East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
