Softball Recap: Russell Comes Up Short

Russell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-5 to the Colby Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-9 on Friday.

Renya Anschutz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Ashlynn Henley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Russell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Colby, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Russell will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Larned at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Colby, they will host Scott at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Beavers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
