George Bishop posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Bishop and Piedmont will take on Concord in a tournament on Saturday. The Bears will enter the matchup having just beaten Hercules, so the Highlanders will have to guard against a team looking to keep the ball rolling.
