Preview: Mitchell Marauders vs. Sierra Stallions
Mitchell is 2-8 against Sierra since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mitchell Marauders' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sierra Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Mitchell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Sierra is ranked 104th).
On Friday, Mitchell was the victim of a tough 57-36 defeat at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian. Mitchell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.
Meanwhile, Sierra sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 win over Elizabeth on Thursday.
Mitchell dropped their record down to 0-21 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.2 points per game. As for Sierra, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Mitchell took a serious blow against Sierra when the teams last played back in January, falling 63-34. Can Mitchell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
