Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Saints vs. Valley Christian Lions
Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through an 80-20 loss at the hands of the Valley Christian Lions. The Saints were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-10.
Valley Christian found their leader in sophomore Josh Becker, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and three steals. What's more, Becker also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Matthew Kravchuck was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Valley Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey will square off against Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Christian, they will take on Western Sierra Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Valley Christian likes a good challenge.
