Basketball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Sparta Trojans were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-37 to the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers.

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Mt. Vernon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Sparta will challenge Mountain Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Nevada at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th.
