Jesse Altamirano Verdin and Alejandro Guzman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Altamirano Verdin tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Guzman tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Altamirano Verdin scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Guzman scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Altamirano Verdin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Jeffrey Krantz and Alexis Carrillo did most of the damage at the plate: Krantz scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Carrillo scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Carrillo has posted since back in March of 2024. Abraham Carillo-Ceron was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Crawford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Tech SD only posted an OBP of .406.
Southwest SD had taken Castle Park down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. Southwest SD fell 8-5 to Castle Park. The match marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Aaron Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emilio Mendez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Crawford's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Southwest SD, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Crawford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375.
