Basketball Game Preview: Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs. Lake Wales Highlanders

The Leesburg Yellow Jackets will take on the Lake Wales Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Leesburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Leesburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Wesley Chapel as Leesburg made off with a 78-54 win. The Yellow Jackets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leesburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ariyana Hester out in front who posted 30 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saige Mccloud, who earned 20 points.

Meanwhile, Lake Wales had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They skirted past the Panthers 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted since January 5, 2024.

Leesburg better focus on containing Tateyanna Mickel and Dackjerlin Senior as the pair were huge in Lake Wales' win. Mickel went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and five steals, while Senior went 5-for-9 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Senior a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Vanessa Squire, who scored ten points and three blocks.

Leesburg has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Lake Wales, their record is now 17-8.
