Baseball Game Preview: Anclote Sharks vs. Springstead Eagles

The Anclote Sharks are taking a road trip to face off against the Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Anclote made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Sharks fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their meetings with the Hurricanes: they've now lost six in a row.

Anclote saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Dylan Dukes, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Springstead came up short against Cypress Creek on Friday and fell 4-1.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Anclote, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Anclote's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Sharks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Springstead, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Anclote continue to outrun the ball?

Anclote suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Springstead in their previous matchup on March 5th. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
