Recap: Pocahontas County Warriors vs. Moorefield Yellow Jackets
The Pocahontas County Warriors lost to the Moorefield Yellow Jackets back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Pocahontas County took down Moorefield 58-42. With that win, Pocahontas County brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Pocahontas County was led to victory by Shayla Bennett and Olivia Vandevender. Bennett scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Vandevender scored 11 points along with four steals and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Bennett scored 15 or more points. Allyson Taylor was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Pocahontas County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Moorefield, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Pocahontas County will be playing at home against Pendleton County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Moorefield, they will head out on the road to square off against East Hardy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
