Basketball Recap: Matthew Norris and Alex Osterloh Secure Win for Sacred Heart Prep

After only 30 points in their last matchup, Sacred Heart Prep made sure to put some points up on the board against Head-Royce on Monday. The Sacred Heart Prep Gators blew past the Head-Royce Jayhawks 73-50.

Sacred Heart Prep was led to victory by Alex Osterloh and Matthew Norris. Osterloh went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and five rebounds, while Norris went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points and eight boards. What's more, Norris also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Zack Beals was another key player, putting up six points and five assists.

Sacred Heart Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Sacred Heart Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Head-Royce, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Sacred Heart Prep and Head-Royce should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Sacred Heart Prep (ranked 201st) will meet Crystal Springs Uplands (ranked 849th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacred Heart Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Head-Royce will square off against Bentley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 469 places (274 vs. 743).
