Basketball Game Preview: Capital HomeSchool vs. Lapeer Lakers Homeschool Lakers

Capital HomeSchool will challenge the Lapeer Lakers Homeschool Lakers at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Saturday, Capital HomeSchool was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 69-63 to Fort Wayne HomeSchool. The defeat continues a trend for Capital HomeSchool in their matchups with Fort Wayne HomeSchool: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lapeer Lakers Homeschool). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat CHASE 88-55. The Lakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lapeer Lakers Homeschool found their leader in sophomore Reed Cotton, who went 11 of 15 from beyond the arc en route to 50 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Cotton is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Lomasney, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Lapeer Lakers Homeschool, bringing their record for this year to 15-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Capital HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Capital HomeSchool was able to grind out a solid win over Lapeer Lakers Homeschool in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 54-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lomasney, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points.
