Football Game Preview: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. Eustace Bulldogs

The Mineola Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Eustace Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Mineola and 16 for Eustace dating back to last season.

Mineola is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Commerce last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Yellowjackets were beaten by the Tigers 64-12. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-6.

Aidan Shepherd put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 44 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Eustace fell victim to Commerce and their airtight defense on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 64-0 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1132nd, while the Tigers are ranked 308th).

Mineola's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Eustace, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Mineola against Eustace when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 56-13 win. In that contest, the Yellowjackets amassed a halftime lead of 35-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
