Dynamic duo of Callie Paradzinski and Alisha Gingerich lead Blue Ridge Christian to victory

Recap: Blue Ridge Christian Bears vs. Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors

On Thursday, the Blue Ridge Christian Bears's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Mountain View Christian Academy by a score of 43-34. Given Blue Ridge Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Mountain View Christian Academy is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Blue Ridge Christian to victory were Callie Paradzinski and Alisha Gingerich. Paradzinski dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Gingerich dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Gingerich scored 15 or more points.

Despite the loss, Mountain View Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Eryn Demko scored 15 points along with six steals and two blocks. Demko is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Spiewak, who scored six points along with four steals.

Blue Ridge Christian's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.

Blue Ridge Christian will take on Grace Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Blue Ridge Christian is coming into the contest with seven straight wins at home, meaning Grace Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Massanutten Military Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Mountain View Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so Massanutten Military Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
