Fairmont took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Northmont, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Firebirds narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Thunderbolts 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since April 10th.

Bailey Young was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Carlee Netherton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Northmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Fairmont will challenge Miamisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Firebirds are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northmont, they will take on Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbolts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
